The Parliamentary Players: Bringing History to Life was filmed in the summer of 2006 to benefit all British Columbia students. The DVD can be viewed in its entirety or you may choose to view characters individually.
It features Queen Victoria, for whom the capital city is named; Francis Rattenbury, the 25-year-old apprentice architect who won the commission to build the Parliament Buildings; James Douglas, the first Governor of the Colony of British Columbia, whose contributions to the territory earned him the name "Father of British Columbia"; Matthew Baillie Begbie, the "Hanging Judge," who travelled on horseback and dispensed justice from a canvas tent; Amor De Cosmos, the self-proclaimed "Lover of the Universe" and second Premier, who was instrumental in ushering the province into Canadian Confederation; and Nellie Cashman, the "Miners’ Angel," who devoted her life to the health and well being of gold rush miners.
Approximate running time: 1 hour
