How to Book a School Tour

The Legislative Tour Office is pleased to provide curriculum-based tours to school groups visiting the Parliament Buildings. Tour bookings are available weekdays between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. In addition to a guided tour, the Legislative Tour Office will inform the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from your school’s riding of your visit and reserve seating in the Public Gallery if the House is sitting.

Group Size:

As space in both the public areas of the Parliament Buildings and in the Public Gallery is limited, groups of 35 or more students who visit while the House is sitting will need to book more than one tour.

When the House is not sitting, please try to limit your groups to no more than 50 students and supervisors.

Language Tours:

Tours can be booked in either English or French and may also be available in other languages. Please contact the Legislative Tour Office for more information on our language tours.

Tour Length:

School tours can last up to one hour and, if the House is sitting, groups are allotted a further 20 minutes in the Public Gallery at the conclusion of the tour. Please plan to spend up to an hour and a half at the Parliament Buildings.

School Photographs:

The Legislative Tour Office would be pleased to take a digital photograph of your group. Please bring a completed Photograph Consent Form (PDF) on the day of your visit. Photographs will be emailed to the school and then deleted from the Legislative Tour Office records.

Meeting with your MLA:

While the Legislative Tour Office informs your school’s MLA of your visit, they do have busy schedules, so we cannot guarantee that the Member or their staff will be available to meet with your school group.

Travel Subsidies:

The Provincial Capital Commission has announced travel subsidies for student groups making educational visits to Victoria and the Parliament Buildings. This program is open to teachers at any public school, any independent school certified by British Columbia’s Ministry of Education, or at any member school of the First Nations Schools Association. For additional information on the Student Travel Subsidies, please visit the Provincial Capital Commission’s website.
