Special Committee on Cosmetic Pesticides opens Consultation
VICTORIA – The Special Committee on Cosmetic Pesticides announced today its plans for conducting provincewide consultations. The all-party committee was appointed to investigate and issue recommendations on the elimination of the unnecessary use of pesticides in British Columbia. In addition to hearing from key stakeholders, committee members want to hear what the public has to say.
“Understanding how British Columbians feel about the use and sale of pesticides is an important element of the committee’s work,” said committee chair Bill Bennett. “This consultation process provides the public with an opportunity to contribute their views to the discussion on how pesticides should be used and regulated in the province.”
British Columbians are invited to participate by completing an online questionnaire or by sending the committee a written submission or video or audio file.
“The committee is eager to understand how pesticide use affects the citizens of this province and we look forward to hearing from many British Columbians,” added Rob Fleming, deputy chair.
